I met Kym Miller, the principal in ORGANIZING BY MYK, back in November as I needed help decluttering and organizing my medical office in preparation for selling it. Mind you, I have worked at this office since July of 1973 and, anyone can imagine the infinite accumulation of files, papers, books and assorted paraphernalia than can occur in 50 years. I must admit to concerns and trepidation about reviewing and disposing off such a life-time collection of items, many loaded with meaning and emotional memories.
Kym has been the ideal companion for that journey; she has a calm and firm demeanor that kept me focused on the task while understanding and empathizing with the inevitable resistance. In addition she has all the skills of a great organizer: she is aware of community resources for the sound removal of items, as well as of sites who treasure and reuse donations, and can lug away huge amounts of the residual “junk”. She has been a trust-worthy, tactful and wonderful companion in such an emotional and practical journey. Her knowledge, pragmatic sense and firm friendliness made delightfully, what appeared to me as an insurmountable task.
